Garden Volunteer

Do you like to garden and build things? Would you like to learn about growing fruit and vegetables? Do you have a few hours free each week to develop The Heugh Community Growing Garden? We are in the early stages of developing the old Tranent Gasworks site on The Heugh into a community growing garden and a resource for the local community. We are looking for volunteers to help with rubbish clearing, tree-felling, ground digging, pathworks, building raised beds and growing.

Experience required

Everyone is welcome, no experience or skills needed, just a great opportunity to work, learn, help the local community and have fun too!

Travel details

This opportunity takes place in Tranent, East Lothian and is accessible by car, bus and on foot.

Support
Training details

Tool safety talk and introduction to the site when you start volunteering and ongoing instruction and demonstrations of tools and activities.

Taster

We can arrange an informal visit to the site and an introduction to other team members.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
Access to the site is via a steep flight of steps which would be a struggle for anyone with limited mobility although we will be working on additional access later in the year.
