Would you like to develop STAR's grounds, garden and polytunnel? Then this is the opportunity for you !
Siblings Reunited (STAR) reunites brothers and sisters separated in the care system, by providing the opportunity for quality and regular sibling contact.
Run from its unique farmland setting, it provides a safe, natural, calming and fun environment, where children can foster emotional bonds and help overcome the trauma associated with being separated from their siblings.
This role has endless possibilities for you to develop the grounds, which include a large polytunnel, orchard, flower beds and large grassy field. It also includes caring for and maintaing plants. STAR would also like the children to have growing and planting opportunities on site.
In addition to building horticulture skills, you will also benefit from being part of a committed and friendly team of volunteers and staff. Come and join us!
Experience required
Applicants should be keen, enthusiastic and adaptable. They should be able to use their initiative but also to follow instructions /to do list. They should have basic gardening skills and be willing to develop the potential of the grounds for young people to use. They should be familiar with a variety of tools and understand the importance of health & safety guidelines for themselves and others using the site.
Travel details
Sibling Reunited is located in NE Fife, between Gauldry and Newburgh, on the banks of the River Tay, at East Flisk Farm, Fife KY14 6HP.
- Traveling from Glenrothes - remain on the A92 towards Dundee, passing by Ladybank, Letham and fernie, Prior to Rathillet there is a road sign noting Hazeltown please turn left there, remain on this road, straight through a small crossroads and we are the 3rd turning on right-please park on the carpark
- Traveling from Dundee- After the Tay Bridge remain on the a92 and take the first right after Rathillet (noted Hazeltown). Then follow directions above.
- Traveling from Cupar- Drive out of Cupar passing the Adamson Hospital and Cairnie Fruit farm, at the junction in Rathillet turn left onto A92, take the first right (sign posted Hazeltown) Then follow directions above.
- Traveling from Perth - Travel to Newburgh, as you head out of Newburgh you will see a garage/cafe please turn left just before the garage, remain on this road (River Tay will always be on your left).
Travel expenses
Traveling expenses are paid at 0.45 per mile or public transport tickets up to a total of £15.00 per session, (due to funding limitations)
Support
Training details
Induction includes a tour of the site, expectations, an informal chat about STAR's vision for its environment, health & safety policy and site risk assessment. Other volunteers and staff are available for ongoing support.

Minimum age: 16
However a parent or carer would need to attend or 18+
