EBay – Books Volunteer

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is expanding its online retail operations and is looking for a dedicated eBay – Books Volunteer to help increase book sales through our online shop. You will play an important part in raising vital funds that enable us to provide specialist palliative care for individuals and families across Glasgow.

This role focuses specifically on sorting donated books, creating attractive themed bundles, and supporting the preparation of eBay listings. Sets of books grouped by genre, theme or author sell particularly well, and your contribution will help us maximise the income we generate from donations.

About the Role

As an eBay – Books Volunteer, you will:

Sort donated books by genre, author, and condition
Create themed or author-specific bundles to maximise sale value
Assist with preparing photos, descriptions, and details for listings
Work collaboratively with our existing online sales volunteers
Quality-check books before they are listed
Help maintain an organised work area and book storage system

This role is ideal for people who love books, enjoy organising, and want to support hospice care in a practical, flexible way.

What We’re Looking For

Someone who enjoys books and organising
Good attention to detail
Ability to work independently or with a small team
Basic computer confidence (full training provided; eBay experience helpful but not essential)

Commitment & Timing

Flexible hours – typically 3–4 hour shifts
Weekdays and weekends available
Minimum suggested commitment: 2–4 hours per week
The role can accommodate volunteers who need flexible or changing schedules

Support You’ll Receive

Full induction and training on book sorting and eBay processes
Ongoing support from the Online Sales Coordinator
A friendly, welcoming volunteer team
Clear guidance, checklists, and templates for creating book bundles and listings
Staff available on-site to assist with questions and quality checking

If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org
