Volunteer Shop Assistant – The Prince & Princes of Wales Croftfoot Hospice Shop

About the Role

Our Croftfoot Hospice Shop is looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable volunteers to help keep the shop running smoothly and raise vital funds for the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice. Every hour volunteered helps support people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Glasgow.

Whether you enjoy chatting with customers, organising and preparing stock, or creating eye-catching displays, there’s a place for you in our welcoming retail team.


What You’ll Do


Welcome, assist, and engage with customers
Sort, price, steam, and prepare donated items for sale
Restock shelves and keep the shop clean and organised
Create attractive and engaging product displays
Operate the till (full training provided)
Support the shop team with day-to-day tasks

Skills We’re Looking For


Warm, friendly, and approachable
Enjoy working with people and being part of a team
Reliable and organised
Willing to learn new tasks
A positive, can-do attitude

No previous retail experience is required — full training and support are provided.


Support You’ll Receive


A full induction and training
Ongoing support from the Shop Manager and retail team
Clear guidance on tasks, health & safety, and shop procedures
A supportive and welcoming volunteer community
Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket travel expenses (as per PPWH volunteer policy)

Commitment & Timing


Volunteers usually give a few hours a week, and we can be flexible around your availability i.e. a regular commitment of a minimum of one/two/three-hour shift on a regular basis.. Shifts are available Monday to Saturday, and we’re happy to discuss what works best for you.

By Bus / Public Transport
Drakemire Drive is served by several local bus routes including the 31, 5, 74, 75, and 31A. These buses stop near Glenacre Street, Croftfoot Road, Seil Drive, and other nearby stops, all within about a 5–12 minute walk of Drakemire Drive.

By Train
The closest train station is Clarkston Station, approximately a 15-minute walk from Drakemire Drive. From the station you can walk or take a short bus/taxi journey toward Croftfoot and the Drakemire Drive area.
