Volunteer Assistant Leader

As a pioneering social enterprise, we are always on the look-out for volunteers who can help us run our projects.

Experience required

This would be ideal for someone who enjoys being outdoors and working with both adults and children.

Not expecting anyone to have set skills or experience, we are open to anyone who applies, as training can be given.

Travel details

All our projects are based in the Scottish Borders currently.

Travel expenses

Travel to projects, if appropriate. Only if you live within 30 miles of our projects.

Training details

We can offer training in:

IW Induction Training Day.
Child Protection.
FOLA (Forest Outdoor learning Award) Level 4 – SCQF*. This is the main Forest Schools qualification route in Scotland.
Bushcraft Level 5 – SCQF (May 2026 onwards).
*We can only offer the FOLA when we are running sessions for clients using the FOLA. You would be able to do it alongside them.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
Volunteers need to be 18 yrs +, because we often work with children/young people and if you were younger than 18, then you also would be classed as a minor on a project.

Frequency & commitment
Up to the volunteer how much time they are willing to give.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
