Director - Burnfoot Community Futures

Do you have a passion for our local community and a desire to share your skills with us? Do you live within Burnfoot or the surrounding area? Would you like to help us to sustain this valuable community resource?

We are now recruiting for some new directors to join our Board in supporting our small dedicated team of staff and volunteers expand the work we do at the heart of our community. Our vision is to continue to grow the Hub into a sustainable place for inspiration, exploration and enjoyment where the aim is to enrich lives through active, inter-generational learning and discovery.

There are opportunities for all directors to become involved in the day-to-day activities of the charity which are many and varied. These include provision of accommodation to meetings and activities of community groups, café facilities including seasonal “warm spaces”, provision of food parcels made up of food donated by local supermarkets, being involved in coaching volunteer helpers in the garden, café or elsewhere and organising seasonal events, parties and celebrations.

Whether you are an experienced trustee or director, or looking for your first opportunity to use your skills to support a charity board, we would love to hear from you!

Experience required

No experience is required as we are looking for individuals with life experience, but if you happen to have experience of finance or HR would be particularly useful, but a background in business, charity management, building maintenance and/or fund-raising you would also be very welcome.

An ability to communicate clearly demonstrating good judgement to other members of the Board and other stakeholders.

Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of a charity director would be beneficial but training will also be given to help you in your role.

An awareness of the issues faced by the community of Burnfoot and a desire to be involved in an organisation that supports / helps make a positive difference.
