Volunteers

We have volunteering opportunities for advisers, admin, social policy and campaign, social media and fundraising
Ideally you are able to commit for at least a year or two for at least a few hours a week.
If you're interested in learning new skills and helping local people deal with a range of advice problems then this is for you.
Are you someone who enjoys helping all kinds of people?
Seeking an opportunity to gain valuable training and experience in a wide range of areas?
A good listener? open–minded and don’t judge people or their circumstances?
Able to read and write English, and do basic arithmetic?
Willing to commit to a minimum of 6 hours each week?
Willing to work as a team member?
We will provide all your training and support and be there for you every step of the way.
We can now also offer an SVQ Level 6 in advice and guidance.

Experience required

Ideally we are looking for people who have time to give each week to helping others in their local community and making a real difference. You will be understanding and patient and non-judgemental and looking forward to working as part of team with other like minded colleagues. We will give you training and support you, so you don't need to be an expert or know about advice topics at all before you join us.

Travel details

We are easily accessible by bus to a bus stop just next to us on the Gallowgate in Glasgow or to the Forge Shopping Centre. Free on-street parking and other free parking options round about. There are train stations around 15-20mins away.
We cover reasonable expenses for volunteers to get to us. Usually bus, train or car mileage at the HMRC rates.

Frequency & commitment
Ideally you will volunteer a minimum of one morning or afternoon per week, however, you can volunteer as much as you like and if we can accommodate the support. You will become qualified as an adviser quicker the more you commit. You will need to be able to volunteer for at least 1-2 years. Less if you fast track. We may be able to offer some home based volunteering after you qualify.
