The Base (Yomo)

We are looking for 2–3 reliable and committed volunteers to support a structured weekly recovery group for adults affected by addiction, trauma, and social isolation.
This is a guided, learning-based session exploring themes such as:
Emotional regulation
Boundaries and relationships
Identity in recovery
Confidence and resilience
Grief and personal growth
Volunteers will support the facilitation of a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed space, helping individuals engage with the session and feel welcomed and supported.

Experience required
We are looking for individuals who are:
Calm, reliable, and consistent
Good listeners with a non-judgmental approach
Interested in mental health, recovery, or community work
Able to maintain appropriate boundaries
This role is particularly suited to:
Students or graduates in social work, psychology, counselling, or related fields
Individuals with an interest in recovery or lived experience (where appropriate)
Those looking to build meaningful, practical experience
Travel details
You can travel easily by public transport or car: the closest bus stops are Gilhill Street and Barrisdale Road (about a 3-minute walk), served by routes 7, 7A, 8, and 17, while the nearest train station is Maryhill, around an 18-minute walk with ScotRail services. If driving, the address is in the Maryhill area of Glasgow, accessible via local roads off the A81; parking is typically on nearby residential streets.

Volunteers (aged 14-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
