Data Entry Volunteer

Purpose of the role: To enter information from a range of sources into the CAB’s internal case management system (CASTLE) and external systems used as part of the advice and information process.
Dalkeith CAB is a small charity who provide advice to the people of Midlothian. We are seeking a Data Entry volunteer to assist us with processing clients for the Money Management team. An opportunity to complete accredited e-learning modules through Money Advice Scotland.
Belonging to a small supportive team of staff and volunteers. The satisfaction of knowing your contribution has helped people facing financial hardship to become more financially stable and able to manage their financial affairs more confidently.
Key tasks for the volunteer


  1. Entering information about clients into the CASTLE internal case management system.

  2. Entering the debt data on the CASTLE case recording system

  3. Entering information on databases maintained by external agencies where required as part of the advice and information service (e.g. Accountant in Bankruptcy)

  4. Extracting information from CASTLE and other information sources where required to support case work when identified by the Money Adviser.

  5. Contacting clients and staff of other agencies by phone or email to obtain information to assist Advisers in their case work.

  6. Copying and scanning documents and ensuring these are stored correctly in electronic and/or paper filing systems.

  7. Undertaking learning activities to update skills and knowledge required by the role, as and when required.

  8. Always Working within the policies and procedures of Dalkeith CAB, including Confidentiality, Data Protection and Security, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and Safeguarding.

  9. Engaging in sessions for support and supervision with relevant senior staff members.

  10. Undertaking any other duties consistent with the role and the volunteer’s capabilities.

Experience required

· Commitment to the mission, aims and values of Dalkeith CAB is important.
· Comfortable with using a PC (training will be provided for using specific systems.)
· Good level of literacy and numeracy for entering information into databases.
· Willingness to work within a small team and maintain strong boundaries.
· The ability to practise self-awareness while working amicably with clients, staff and other volunteers.

Travel details

Buses 3, 46, N3, 139, 140, 141, R1, R2, R3 and R4 stop on Eskbank Road. Buses 3, 46, 48, N3, 51 and 139 stop on Buccleuch Street. Approximately a 5-minute walk to CAB. There is a free Car Park on Old Edinburgh Road.

Travel expenses

Travel up to the cost of a one-day bus multi-trip ticket, or the equivalent in HMRC mileage reimbursement for car users. Expenses can reimbursed Bi-Weekly or on a Monthly basis. Light refreshments will be provided for volunteers while at the Bureau

Support
Training details

You’ll receive training and full support from our experienced Money management staff team. Support and Supervision will be carried out with the Volunteer Manager. You will have and appourtunity to undergo relevant training for the role.
