Chair and Board Members

Due to the retiral of our current post holder, SRLPDC is looking for a new Chair of its Board. We are also looking to welcome more trustees to support our new Chair.
SRLPDC is a small self-funding registering body that monitors, supports and regulates language professionals who work
within the Deaf community across the whole of Scotland.
The Chair of the Board role requires a high level of English language skills with a preferred background in business, administration and/ or finance. We are looking for someone with experience in a senior or strategic leadership role, plus the ability to meet the anticipated time commitment of 150 hours per year – this includes quarterly Board meetings; AGM and attendance at meetings/events with similar professional bodies, plus overseeing the work of our Registrar.
Trustees are required to commit and participate - all meetings and discussions are held in both English and BSL so our work is accessible by all..  For the trustee roles, the commitment is significantly less, around 30 hours a year.
For all roles we ask for broad knowledge and understanding of the provision of language and communication services to the Deaf community and current issues affecting it, particularly in Scotland. We particularly welcome Deaf applicants who have experience of using language professionals, who can guide us in our development.
You will be volunteering alongside a highly supportive existing group of trustees and help and support will be provided throughout your induction.
Further information is available on our website – www.thescottishregister.co.uk
If you are interested, please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when registered and logged in). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out, then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on [email protected]
