Pride with It Gets Better UK: help our LGBTQ+ storytelling project spread a message of hope!

It Gets Better UK is a UK-wide LGBTQ+ charity and storytelling project. We envision a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals. We collect and share stories of personal experiences to help young or questioning LGBTQ+ people find create community, representation, and hope for the future. At Pride, we run stalls where people can share their story, a message to their younger self, or message of support. The conversations we have are uplifting and often emotional.
Our Scotland team are looking for extra helpers so that we can run stalls at Pride this summer! We are looking for help at:
DUNDEE PRIDE - SAT JUN 27
GLASGOW PRIDE - SAT JULY 18
BUTE PRIDE - SAT AUG 8
What happens at a stall?

  • Stalls are delivered as a team and are one full day (or half day), almost always a Saturday.

  • Help with set up and tidy up.

  • Welcome people to the stall and introduce them to It Gets Better UK.

  • Invite them to take part in our "messages to my younger self" activity, and write a message of hope and take a photo.

  • Help film interviews (as cameraperson or interviewer) collecting people’s stories and reflections about LGBTQ+ life.

  • Signpost people to further support.

Experience required

Personable, friendly manner.
Confidence in crowds and talking to new people.
Sensitivity and strong knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community. Most of our volunteers are LGBTQ+ themselves and allies are also welcome to be part of the team.
