Volunteer Driver

Voluntary work is a unique opportunity to help society while helping yourself. By volunteering you are doing valuable work that cannot be provided to the same level by public services. At the same time, you are investing in yourself to be a team player, even while working alone! You will be gaining experience through doing tasks combined with structured training that can be useful in general life.

WDCT have been running services for almost 4 years. Primarily by using volunteer owned vehicles to take eligible residents of West Dunbartonshire to their health appointments. A new service will be starting soon using our own minibus to take community groups on outings for the benefit of their social well-being. We also work with community groups to bring their members to social events such as lunch clubs.

Volunteers will be eligible for free training and development such as First Aid, Minibus Driver training and other related topics.
Approved Mileage and Payments cover the use of owned vehicles and an additional meal allowance is given each day.
The role involves taking WDCT registered users door to door from their home to wherever they have a health appointment and then back again. A typical commitment will take 3 hrs including waiting time. You have flexibility over the jobs on offer - choosing those that suit you best for time of day or day of week.

If this sounds interesting, we will meet for a chat then if both parties agree we will give you an induction and as much advice as you like.

The job is not very physical and you will not be required to help users other than to get them in and out of your car safely.

We are looking for courteous and sympathetic characters who like to mix with other folk.

So whether you are looking to use your time well, update your skills or have the chance to do something a bit new, we can offer you a warm welcome and all of the support and help you could need.

We are seeing a rise in demand for our services everyday. Having your help will allow us to be there for the people who need us. Any time you can give will make a real difference.
