Volunteer Peer Advocate

Carers Link was established in 2004 as a registered charity (Registered charity number SC034447) to
support unpaid carers in East Dunbartonshire or care for someone in the area. The person cared for might
be living with a disability, an illness, a mental health problem or have issues around substance misuse or
addiction.
Describe the volunteering Opportunity
A peer advocate is someone who has personal experience as an unpaid carer and is ready to use that
experience to make a difference in the lives' of others. As a peer advocate with Carers Link, you will play a
vital role in supporting unpaid carers across East Dunbartonshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part
of an innovative peer-led approach to carer support.
Your insight and lived experience will help carers navigate challenges, access respite and social care
services and find the confidence to have their voices heard. We know that many carers struggle to seek
support – not because they don’t need it, but because they lack the time, energy or confidence. That’s
where you come in. Your understanding can help break down barriers and ensure carers feel supported,
understood and empowered.
