Braeburn Court
- VO105725
Braeburn is an extra-care housing service, providing a safe, supportive and friendly environment for older people to live as independently as possible, with support available when required. We are a welcoming and close-knit community, where meaningful engagement and wellbeing are at the heart of what we do.
Located in St Margaret’s Hope, Braeburn benefits from a beautiful coastal setting, offering a lovely view to enjoy whilst spending time outdoors.
We are looking for a volunteer to support the development and maintenance of our outdoor areas. Whilst we already have established garden spaces, we are keen to further develop these, including introducing opportunities for growing vegetables in the future.
The role would involve:
· Supporting the planting and maintenance of flowers and garden beds;
· Assisting with weeding, general upkeep and improving outdoor spaces;
· Helping to develop new ideas, including future vegetable growing areas;
· Working alongside our service users, encouraging involvement in gardening activities;
· Using initiative to work independently at times, helping shape and maintain the gardens.
There is plenty of opportunity for creativity and input, and the volunteer would play an important role in gradually shaping the outdoor environment.
Experience required
We are looking for someone who:
· Has an interest in gardening, including flowers, plants and (ideally) growing vegetables;
· Has some practical gardening skills (formal experience not essential);
· Is confident working both independently and alongside others;
· Has an interest in working with older people and supporting participation in activities;
· Is friendly, patient and enjoys being part of a community.
