Community Events, Pop Ups and Fairs Volunteer

Hourglass are a UK wide charity dedicated to calling time on the harm, abuse and exploitation of older people. They deliver a range of support services — from prevention and early intervention through to direct support and recovery.
This role supports their outreach, engagement and administrative work. Volunteers help to deliver community events, pop up information stands and awareness raising activities, while also carrying out essential administrative tasks, including basic data entry, logging interactions, supporting event preparation, and helping the team stay connected with local communities in Fife. Volunteers represent the charity in public settings and may occasionally support or lead events independently once fully trained and only if they wish to opt in to this. A high level of reliability is essential, as community events depend on confirmed attendance.

Experience required

Volunteers should have a positive attitude towards older people and a commitment to challenging abuse, confidence engaging with the public in community settings, reliability, good IT skills, and ability to adhere to boundaries.

Travel details

Home based for admin tasks with independent travel to / from pre approved community venues within Fife / surrounding areas.

Travel expenses

Pre - approved travel and refreshment expenses will be reimbursed including public transport costs, car mileage, car parking and meals.

Training details

3.5 day mandatory core induction and training programme - delivered online via TEAMS or Zoom. Additional training modules tailored to the role, including basic CRM use and admin processes. Ongoing volunteer training opportunities – internal and external Regular 1:1 support, reviews and guidance from staff and volunteer colleagues. Access to a debriefing and well-being call after challenging interactions with members of the public.
