Social Media & Promotion Volunteer

St Mary’s for All Centre is a busy and vibrant community hub, and we want to share more of its stories, activities, and impact. We are looking for a creative volunteer to help with social media and promotion. This may include taking photographs at events where appropriate, helping draft social media posts, creating simple promotional content, sharing ideas for campaigns, and helping raise awareness of activities, volunteering opportunities, and room hire. This role would suit someone interested in digital content, photography, communications, or community storytelling. It is a chance to build practical experience while helping a local charity reach more people

Experience required

Some confidence with social media or digital content would be helpful, but full professional experience is not needed. This role would suit someone who:
Enjoys social media, photography, or creative communication
Has good written communication skills
Is interested in sharing positive community stories
Would like to build experience in promotion or content creation

Travel details

This role will mainly be based at St Mary’s for All Centre in Hamilton, particularly when capturing activity content. Some content preparation may be possible remotely by agreement. The centre is accessible by train and bus.

Travel expenses

Reasonable agreed travel expenses for centre-based volunteering can be discussed in advance with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Training details

Induction training
Ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator
Guidance on tone of voice, permissions, and safe use of photographs
Support with understanding the centre’s activities and priorities

Taster

An induction is available. Volunteers can meet with the team to learn about the centre’s communication style, review examples of content, and discuss their own interests and skills.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

No PVG certificate is normally required. Volunteers will be expected to follow agreed guidance around photography, consent, confidentiality, and appropriate online communication.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
