Gala Day Entertainment Co-ordinator

Dunfermline Children’s Gala is one of the highlights of the city’s summer, with a history stretching back to the early 20th century. The event features a parade of primary school children through the city centre to Pittencrieff Park, followed by a picnic lunch and an afternoon of entertainment. Our aim is to provide a fun, inclusive day for Dunfermline’s primary school children and their families, whatever their background.
As Gala Day Entertainment Co-ordinator, you will help deliver a smooth and enjoyable afternoon programme in the open-air arena. The line-up is largely in place, but they need someone to finalise arrangements and coordinate the entertainment on the day. Using your organisational skills and any event experience, you will ensure performers arrive and finish on time, and deal with any issues that arise.

Experience required

They would love to hear from someone who enjoys working with people and is confident communicating with a range of entertainers, while also keeping the Trustees updated and reassured that everything is on track; has some experience of helping to run an event, although this could come from different places — for example through performing arts studies, amateur dramatics, or community events; is organised, reliable and able to see things through, while being comfortable taking the lead on the day with support from the committee when needed.

Travel details

This year’s gala will be held on 27th June in Pittencrieff Park. In the 6-weeks or so leading up to the gala, you will lead the development of the final arrangements working closely with the Trustees and other members of the Committee.
They use Teams for everyday communications and hold fortnightly meetings either face to face in Dunfermline or on Teams.

Travel expenses

They will reimburse pre-agreed travel expenses.
