Go Forth and Clyde is a charitable organisation based at Lock 16 on the Forth and Clyde Canal in Camelon, Falkirk. We operate on and around the canal to support local community development and to encourage the wider public to learn, develop and to use the canals in ways that support their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
As we look to grow the organisation to do more and to have a strong foundation for future sustainability, we’re looking to expand our board of trustees. This is the group of people who help steer the ship, providing strategic, financial, and general governance support to our team of staff and volunteers.
As an organisation, we provide a wide range of opportunities for our volunteers, plus other visitors, families and the local community, both on and off the water, including lock keeping, boat training and operation, a cycle repair workshop and led ride project, and wood workshop.
If you have a passion for the outdoors, especially the local canal network, and even without that, if you want to let your skills flow to help support local people at a senior level, then Go Forth and Clyde could be the opportunity you’re looking for.
In return you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing your efforts will help others in some of the most statistically deprived areas of Scotland, have some fun, and you’ll also literally get to steer the ship (well, our canal boat) from time to time too.

Experience required

We’re specifically looking for people with skills and experience in HR, finance, and/or wellbeing, but we welcome anyone with an interest in what we do who is at a point in their life that they want to support others by being a Trustee.

Travel details

Meetings usually take place at our Lock 16 base in Camelon.
This is easily accessible by car, bus, train, cycle or boat.
