Assistant Home Repair Hero

Role purpose
The Assistant Volunteer Home Repair supports the Home Repair Hero during 1-hour practical DIY sessions. This playful and community-focused role is perfect for someone who enjoys helping others, learning new skills, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The Sidekick helps set up activities, assist participants, and ensure the session runs smoothly — adding enthusiasm, encouragement, and a friendly presence throughout.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Home Repair Hero in delivering 1-hour DIY and simple repair sessions.
Help set up tools, materials, and workstations before each session.
Support participants as they practise tasks by offering encouragement, spotting challenges, and celebrating progress.
Demonstrate simple tasks when confident or provide hands-on help under the leader’s guidance.
Ensure tools are used safely and highlight any concerns to the leader.
Help tidy up after sessions, ensuring a clean and safe space.
Contribute to a friendly, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all ages and abilities.
Offer suggestions for future session themes based on community needs and interests.
