The Walk Leader is responsible for planning, leading, and supporting safe, inclusive, and enjoyable group walks. The role helps encourage physical activity, wellbeing, and social connection within the local community.
Plan and lead regular group walks suitable for participants’ abilities
Welcome participants and create a friendly, inclusive environment
Ensure all walks are carried out safely and in full compliance with risk assessments.
Promote safe walking practices and awareness of the local environment
Monitor participants during walks and respond appropriately to any issues
Report any incidents, concerns, or accidents according to procedures
Encourage participation, wellbeing, and social interaction
Follow organisational policies, including health and safety and safeguarding

There are no formal qualifications required for this role but we do like volunteers to have the ability to understand and empathize with the diverse needs of community members, demonstrating patience and kindness in all interactions; strong verbal communication skills to effectively explain and provide clear instructions; be reliable and punctual, with a commitment to consistently fulfill scheduled volunteer shifts; ability to work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to ensure smooth operation of the project; flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and respond to the needs of the Walkers as they arise.

The centre is located in the North West Of Glasgow in Victoria Park Ward just off of Clydeside Express way and Dumbarton Road
