The RNLI's Lifeboat Station in Wick is looking for a volunteer to join the existing team in the role of Launch Authority.
Established in 1848, Wick Lifeboat Station in the far north of Scotland operates an all-weather Trent class lifeboat. Crew members have been recognised by the RNLI for their lifesaving achievements 11 times.
The impact you will make
This role will help us save lives at sea by carrying out the day to day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.
What you will be doing
- Authorise launch of the lifeboat
- Provide leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager or as delegated
- Ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service
What you need for this role - Team player
- Good communicator
- Leadership skills
- Local maritime knowledge
- IT literate (desirable)
- Live or work within 15 minutes of the station and be between 18 and 70 years of age
- Knowledge of the RNLI (desirable)
Travel expenses
Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Minimum age: 18
Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
