Knitting / Crochet Volunteer GAMH Community Hub and The Flourish Community

The Flourish Community is looking for a volunteer to help support their knitting and crochet group at the GAMH Community Hub (23-25 Ashley Street G3 6DR) - If you are looking to gain experience working within mental health this is the volunteer position for you.
We are looking for a chatty, patient and encouraging individual who can help to support our knitting group for 5 months.
No experience of working within mental health is necessary, all we are looking for is someone with a good, positive energy who can get on well with the group.

Role Description.
2 Hours a week, preferably a Monday between 2 and 4 - someone who is able to commit to 5 months if possible.
We have a well established knitting/crochet group on a Monday afternoon. Our lovely volunteer who usually supports the group is taking a well deserved holiday from the end of April until September. We’re looking for someone to cover while she is away.
The group have worked on a variety of simple projects - based on squares - including new accessories for our Allotment scarecrow. Each person in the group is working on something slightly different. Most people are still getting used to basic stitches, with others moving onto patterns. For many the knitting group is the highlight of the week.
We are looking for someone to help support the members of the group. This role will include:
Helping members with knitting or crochet.
Helping members select and read patterns.
Supporting members with the set up and clean down of the group.
Generally being chatty and getting involved.
If you are interested, please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone. If you don’t hear back within 5 working days, please contact the organisation using the provided details. Check your junk/spam folder for responses. If there’s still no response, contact Volunteer Glasgow at [email protected].

Ability to Knit (and or crochet) to a level where you can help people learn and read patterns.
Ability to identify suitable patterns and projects for different skill levels.
