Digital Guide

Digital Fife is a charity which seeks to promote and develop digital inclusion. The tools provided by the charity allow community groups to design and build attractive websites without the need for specialist IT knowledge.
The main task involved is to assist individuals and community groups to use the Digital Fife website platform (Webspringer software) to develop a website for their group. This is essentially a buddying role using your knowledge of the design features of Webspringer to support others starting out on this journey.
This role can provide you with an opportunity to develop new skills, confidence, experience of supporting others and a current reference, and you will gain satisfaction in seeing others develop as a result of your support.

Experience required

You should have good basic IT skills and ideally should have experience of using Digital Fife’s Webspringer software as an editor for one of the 150+ groups who are part of the Digital Fife online community. Alternatively, you should have strong IT skills and be prepared to undertake training to learn about the key features of Webspringer. You should enjoy meeting and talking to new people face to face and/or online as the role involves providing buddying support to new groups. Good communication skills and an approachable, friendly and encouraging manner are essential.

Travel details

You would be matched to a volunteer opportunity in your local area unless the support is to be provided online in which case you could be volunteering with a group or individual anywhere in Fife. Opportunities to volunteer are dependent on requests for support from existing or new user groups.

Travel expenses

All out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. In the main this is expected to be travel costs which will be reimbursed at public transport rates or mileage costs at 0.50p up to a maximum of £10.

Induction to Digital Fife and training on Webspringer software if required. Access to ‘How to Guides’ on the Digital Fife website Ongoing support, advice and guidance from a named individual.
