Help Buglife plant fruit trees to enhance the biodiversity and habitats found in great old orchards, in the Carse of Gowrie, Dundee and other areas near the Tay as part of a B-Lines initiative to help conserve pollinators, beetles and other invertebrates under threat.
The first opportunity is at Port Allen near Errol, a traditional, 18th century pear orchard to return it to a bug and human Eden through the following work:
Plant fruit and nut trees for a longer flowering season.
Clearing scrub and sucker thickets to free veteran trees.
Save the 20 Scottish pear varieties found in Port Allen Orchard and around the Tayside.
Planting flowering perennials, bulbs and bushes for flower and food source diversity.
Making wood piles, bug hotels, bee banks to encourage solitary and bumble bees, beetles and butterflies.
Activities for all sorts of abilities and interests.
Experience required
No specific skills needed only enthusiasm. We ask you to share info on any needs or skills you have.
