Art and craft group leader

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is a charitable care organisation supporting adults with a wide range of support needs including learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health issues. They support people to live full and independent lives in their community.
They are looking for a creative individual for approximately two hours every Wednesday from 5.45pm – 8pm to lead the Art and Craft group attended by approximately ten people. The volunteer will plan art and craft activities for the enthusiastic group, which offers those supported the opportunity to meet others and have fun, leading to some people becoming friends and socialising outwith the group. Care staff are present to support everyone who attends. Previous care experience is not required, just patience and being able to connect with others. Previous activities have included painting, drawing, card making, papier-mache, calendars, masks, seasonal bunting, pompoms and seasonal gift making. A PVG is required for this role.

Experience required

An interest in arts and crafts.
Patience and understanding.
Ability to plan weekly activities and adapt these to the skill level of people in the group.

Travel details

The Art and Craft group is held every Wednesday in the training room st John Smith Business Centre, 1 Begg Road, Kirkcaldy, accessible by public and private transport.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses will be reimbursed for those within the Kirkcaldy area only. Mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile or public travel rates. Each case will be discussed individually.

Support
Training details

The volunteer will be introduced to the Art group, given an induction and training required for the role. There will also be the opportunity to shadow a member of staff
