Meet & Greet / Front of House Volunteer

St Mary’s for All Centre is a busy, welcoming community hub in Hamilton. We are looking for friendly volunteers to help create a positive first impression for visitors, centre users, and community groups. This role is about helping people feel comfortable, included, and able to find their way around the centre. Volunteers may greet people as they arrive, provide simple information about activities taking place, direct visitors to rooms, and offer light front-of-house support. It is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, wants to build confidence, and would like to play a visible role in a much-loved local community space.

Experience required

No previous experience is required. This role would suit someone who:
Enjoys meeting people and making them feel welcome
Is friendly, patient, and approachable
Can communicate clearly and kindly
Would like to build confidence in a people-facing role

Travel details

St Mary’s for All Centre is located in central Hamilton and is accessible by local bus and train services. Hamilton Central railway station is within walking distance. Full address and travel information will be provided to volunteers before starting.

Travel expenses

Reasonable agreed travel expenses can be discussed in advance with the Volunteer Coordinator, in line with the centre’s volunteer expenses arrangements.

Taster

An induction is available. New volunteers will have the chance to visit the centre, meet the Volunteer Coordinator, learn more about the role, and discuss what support would help them feel confident before beginning.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

No specific qualifications are required. A PVG certificate is not normally required for this role, although this will be reviewed if duties change or involve regulated activity.

This opportunity can be flexible. Volunteers may support weekly, fortnightly, or at agreed times that suit both the volunteer and the centre. We are happy to discuss a manageable commitment

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
