Springburn Community Hub Volunteer

Be part of the heart of Springburn — support your local community through the everyday running of the Community Hub.
Do you want to give back to your local community? We want volunteers to get involved with the everyday running of Springburn Community Hub. The Hub is the heart of our charity, and our wonderful volunteers make it a welcoming and safe space for all.
As a Hub Volunteer with Spirit of Springburn, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting a busy, community-led Hub at the heart of Springburn Shopping Centre — helping local people access food services, community activities, events, advice and support in a welcoming environment.
Who are we?
Spirit of Springburn is a Community Development Trust working to empower the residents of Springburn to enact positive change in our community. At our core is the Community Hub in Springburn Shopping Centre, which hosts our Heritage Project, Community Food services, and offers signposting and advice. We also hold events regularly, from tea parties in the Shopping Centre to the Springburn Community Street Festival.
As a Spirit of Springburn volunteer, you’ll be part of a friendly, diverse and motivated team dedicated to strengthening community.
Examples of tasks you might do:
Setting up tables and display boards for activities
Maintaining hygiene and health & safety
Restocking food from supermarkets for the Community Fridge
Keeping posters and displays up to date
Supporting community activities and events
Helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for visitors
Training & Support
Volunteers will receive an induction and ongoing support from the Spirit of Springburn team. Guidance will be provided on health & safety, community activities, and supporting Hub services. Volunteers will also have regular check-ins, opportunities to learn new skills, and support from experienced staff and fellow volunteers.
Hours
The Hub is open Monday to Friday, 11am–3pm. Volunteers are usually involved between 10am–3:30pm. Some volunteers come in every day, while others volunteer for just a couple of hours each week. We ask volunteers to commit to a regular schedule.
Tuesday evenings, 8:00pm–10:30pm:
We particularly need more volunteers to support supermarket collections to stock the Community Fridge. Drivers are especially welcome.
