Marie Curie Volunteer Ward Companion - Paisley

Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity, supporting people living with a terminal illness and their families through expert nursing care, practical information, emotional support, and bereavement services. Through its Companion Volunteer role, Marie Curie volunteers provide valuable social and emotional support to people affected by terminal illness, helping to reduce loneliness and isolation. Companions offer a listening ear, friendly conversation, and support with activities such as hobbies, outings, or accessing local services, helping individuals maintain connection, independence, and quality of life while complementing the care provided by Marie Curie's professional staff and healthcare teams.
Could you be a companion for someone in their last days of life?
Become a Companion Volunteer and offer the one thing that matters most, your presence.
Whether it’s sharing stories, chatting about life, playing some music or sitting beside someone, your time can bring warmth, comfort and connection to someone who truly needs it. Sometimes, just being there is everything.
As a Companion Volunteer, you’ll provide emotional support and conversation, help people express what matters most to them, share helpful information. You may also support family members or carers, both before and after bereavement.
You’ll receive full training and ongoing support from the Marie Curie team, and you’ll be joining a community that cares as deeply as you do. We’ll never ask you to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
Where you’ll be making a difference:
We’re currently welcoming companion volunteers working with the NHS across locations in Glasgow & Clyde either as a regular visitor or to be on call for somebody needing support, depending on what commitment you can offer.
