Active Schools Sports Coach

Increase participation in school sport


  • Organise extra-curricular sport/physical activity clubs in East Dunbartonshire schools

    Are you passionate about sport and physical activity? Do you want to make a positive difference in the
    lives of children and young people in East Dunbartonshire? The Active Schools team is looking for
    enthusiastic volunteers to help us inspire the next generation to get active.
    Active Schools offers year round volunteering opportunities supporting sport and physical activity
    programmes in local schools delivered during extra-curricular times:
    We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who:

  • Have previous coaching experience

  • Are interested in a career in sports coaching/teaching

  • Have a direct connection to a local school (e.g. parents, carers)
    What You'll Do:

  • Support and help deliver fun, inclusive sports sessions

  • Encourage children and young people to participate and build confidence through sport

  • Act as a positive role model within the school community
    What We're Looking For:

  • A passion for sports coaching and working with young people

  • Enthusiasm, reliability and a positive attitude

  • Good communication skills

  • A willingness to learn and develop

Experience required

Previous coaching or involvement in sport/physical activity


  • Experience working or volunteering with children or young people

  • A connection to a local school (e.g parent or carer)

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Confidence leading or supporting group activities

  • Organisation and teamworking skills

  • A positive attitude and ability to motivate others

Travel details

Opportunities are available across East Dunbartonshire including Bearsden, Milngavie, Bishopbriggs,
Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and surrounding villages. For school aged pupils, we can sometimes arrange taxis to
transport volunteers to local schools.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 16

Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
