Events Volunteers: Village Storytelling Festival 2026

The Village Storytelling Festival 2026 (VSF26) takes place from 3rd - 6th June at The Boardwalk, Glasgow. The full programme can be viewed at villagestorytelling.org.uk/festival/
We will be recruiting a team of Festival Volunteers to help us in the delivery of a range of Festival events, and we’d love you to be a part of it. This is a brilliant opportunity to help visitors to VSF26 make the most of their visit. Training will be provided to ensure you feel happy and confident in your role and, where possible, we’ll work with you to find a regular volunteering pattern to suit your availability throughout the duration of the festival.  
Location: The Boardwalk, 105 Brunswick St, Glasgow, G1 1TF
Training: All Volunteers must attend a general induction session at The Village Storytelling Centre (69 Langton Rd, Glasgow, G53 5DD) on the 20th of May from 11am to 1pm. (Refreshments will be provided and travel expenses can be claimed)
Please chat with us if you are unable to attend on this date as an alternative, online session may be offered.
An additional venue specific induction will take place at the Boardwalk on Wednesday 3rdJune (Time TBC)
Availability: All volunteers will be given a rota based on availability supplied at the time of application.
Main tasks and responsibilities:  
 Welcoming all visitors to VSF26 events, assisting with enquiries in a positive and friendly manner  
 Providing information on Festival events  
Instructing visitors as directed by the Executive Director & Village Team
 Meet & greet artists and organise refreshments as directed by the Executive Director & Village Team
Social Media engagement if appropriate

Experience required

This Volunteer role may be for you if you:
Have an interest in arts and culture, particularly contemporary storytelling
Have a positive and outgoing personality
Have a good level of spoken English
Take pride in and enjoy welcoming visitors of all ages and backgrounds
Are well-presented, reliable and personable
Feel confident in a customer-facing environment
Have a willingness to work as part of a team

Travel details

The Village Storytelling Centre is in Langton Halls, Pollok (southwest Glasgow).
Train to Pollokshaws West or Nitshill, then ~15–20 min walk
Bus to Silverburn/Pollok, short walk
15–20 min drive from city centre, parking nearby

Travel expenses

Travel expenses to and from the venue can be claimed.
