Special Events Volunteer

Help bring Springburn’s community events to life — meet new people, support local activities, and make a difference without committing every week.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are available on an ad hoc basis to support our public events, from serving drinks at our Springburn Heritage Tea Party to helping set up the Springburn Community Street Festival.
This flexible role would suit someone who wants to get involved in the Springburn community but is not looking for a weekly volunteering commitment. Whether you enjoy meeting people, supporting local events, or helping behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Special Events Volunteer with Spirit of Springburn, you’ll help create welcoming, community-focused events that bring local people together and celebrate everything that makes Springburn special.
Who are we?
Spirit of Springburn is a Community Development Trust working to empower the residents of Springburn to enact positive change in our community. At the heart of our work is the Community Hub in Springburn Shopping Centre, which hosts our Heritage Project, Community Food services, and offers signposting and advice.
We also organise a variety of community events throughout the year, from tea parties in the Shopping Centre to the Springburn Community Street Festival.
As a Spirit of Springburn volunteer, you’ll become part of a friendly, diverse and motivated team dedicated to strengthening community connections and creating positive local change.
Examples of tasks you might do:
Setting up and taking down gazebos, tables and event materials
Serving drinks and food at community events
Welcoming and signposting visitors
Helping create a safe, friendly and inclusive atmosphere
Supporting activities, stalls and entertainment areas
Assisting staff and other volunteers during busy events
Training & Support
Volunteers will receive an introduction and guidance from the Spirit of Springburn team before each event. Ongoing support will be available throughout volunteering activities, and volunteers will work alongside experienced staff and fellow volunteers in a welcoming environment.
Key Dates
Summer Heritage Tea – Thursday 30th July
Springburn Community Street Festival – Saturday 29th August
Christmas Fair – Date TBC
Additional community events may also become available throughout the year.
Hours & Commitment
As an Events Volunteer, we ask that you commit to volunteering at a minimum of two events each year.
Event times will vary depending on the activity, with some support needed before and after events for set-up and pack-down.
Additional Volunteering Opportunity
