Wellbeing Activities Volunteers (Creative Connections)

Are you enthusiastic about arts and crafts and all things creative? Would you enjoy bringing people together to share the enjoyment creativity brings?
At Changes, we know that creating art can reduce stress, improve mood and provide a safe way to express our feelings. Our Creative Connections group provides people with a space to meet whilst doing something they enjoy - that also benefits their mental health.
We are looking for volunteers to lead Creative Connections, an informal drop-in group held bi-weekly on Monday afternoons at the Fisherrow Centre in Musselburgh.
You don't need to be a qualified art teacher or have brush skills like Picasso (though it's great if that's true) - but if you have an enthusiasm for creativity and the benefits it's brings, as well as confidence in group settings, we'd like to talk to you.
This role involves:

  • Leading simple arts based activities, accessible to all

  • Being welcoming and friendly to attendees of the group and ensuring everyone is involved

  • Being sensitive to signs of distress or concerning behaviour among attendees and reporting these to staff

  • Working in accordance with Changes' values and relevant policies and procedures
You will be supported throughout your volunteering journey by Changes staff and have opportunities for ongoing training and social activities where you can meet like minded people.
